Making money with google’s adsense program
Here we are again. This is a follow up to my previous article on How can I earn money online.
I mentioned about Google Adsense and Affiliate programs as two great ways to earn money online.
Today, let’s learn more about the google adsense program.
What is google adsense ?
Google adsense is program by the search engine giant ‘GOOGLE’. Through this program they bring together online advertisers and publishers. Online advertisers are people who want to promote their products on the internet. Publishers are nothing but people who create and manage a website which may be selling products or just providing information. Google adsense matches the advertisers’ ads to the content on the publishers’s website and display ads there. This is known as Contextual Advertising.
Example: If you are an expert on gardening, and if you run adsense ads on your website, google would display advertisers related to gardening products, gardening tools, etc.
Typically people who find information on your website useful may also be interested in products displayed as ads by google and click them to find out more. When these ads are clicked, google charges the advertiser some money. They keep some part of it and share the rest with you.
So all the three parties gain. The advertiser for getting attention to his product, google for providing the medium to promote the advertiser’s product, and YOU for displaying those ads and providing a lead when people click on the ads. This concept revolutionised the online advertising on the web.
It is very important to provide good content. Most search engines including google are thirsty for websites which provide quality and original information/content. I strongly advise that if you are starting a website, please choose a topic which you are passionate about. Doing so, you will keep adding new content, share new ideas which other people might find interesting.
Google adsense is a numbers game. The marketing formla of 20-80 still holds good. You might even take it down to 5-95. This means if 95 people visit your site, the chances of people clicking on the google adsense ads on your website may be 5. The rate per click also depends on the product being advertised.
So, next time you see an ad online or in the newspaper which says ‘Earn 1000s online working on the internet’, etc, keep this is mind. These people are bluffing. Someone who is reaaly making that kind of money would not share his secrets, because uniqueness is what clicks in business. There are 100s of scamsters who want to earn money just by churning out the same old stuff that you can find on the internet. Like you found this website.
